The 18th of October is notable for two reasons: it’s the day Yuna died in SAO, but it’s also the day when one of our staff members and resident goddess JengKay was born (anyone else getting the impression that Jeng is a reincarnation of Yuna?🤔). So, to mark both of these occasions, we decided to release the final chapter of the Hopeful Chant manga adaptation on this very date and we dedicate this release to Jeng.
This chapter adapts the second half Hopeful Chant part 5 - the battle where Yuna valiantly sacrificed herself to save her party from utter annhilation. It skipped over some of the buildup to the battle from the original story, but is otherwise a faithful adaptation. Just like with Ex2 and Ex3, I took this chance to revise the dialogue of the original translation while working on the manga adaptation to sound better, so don’t be surprised that the text doesn’t match your PDF files of HC’s original translation. Still need to find the time to clean up up the narration as well someday.
